Cinema and the Philosophy of Iris Murdoch: Building a Moral Vision

Dr Lucy Bolton, Queen Mary, University of LondonDr Bolton’s research focuses on film and philosophy, with a particular interest in feminist philosophy and phenomenology. She has published widely on the relationship between the work of Luce Irigaray and cinema. She is also interested in the work of Virginia Woolf and Iris Murdoch, and is researching ways in which these thinkers can be read alongside cinematic works. Her monograph Film and Female Consciousness: Irigaray, Cinema and Thinking Women was published in 2011 by Palgrave Macmillan.
